What is biophilic design Biophilia is a term rooted in Greek words for “life” and “love” or “affection”. A literal translation would be “love of life”. With its use in architecture and design, the concept is based on the natural connections that we as human have with nature. This is not simply a philosophical approach, as there is enough scientific research to prove the positive affect it has on our mental and physical well-being. One could say, a biophilic approach to design is also a holistic approach to our health. But why?
